An Opportunity for Greatness

Surad Academy was created and designed so all students and faculty could reach their potential for positive and meaningful lives. The school was founded in Faribault, MN, a working class and immigrant town of  25,000, because America has hundreds of towns like Faribault in which children no longer believe in the American dream. Surad will change this perception and be a model for millions of people across America, proving that all students can compete with even the most privileged in the country. All they need is the right school and the right teachers. 

Surad's founders took their inspiration and design from the founder of Abaarso School in Africa, which has seen hundreds of students go from the humblest of backgrounds to higher education and ultimately life success. Abaarso students have earned tens of millions of dollars in scholarships, gone on to study at the top universities in the world, and graduated from those colleges in astonishingly high numbers. All of this occurred with just 20% of the per pupil budget the US spends on students. Surad's founders believe that if such success can happen in poorer and less educated countries then it should and must happen here too.

About Us

We are a K-4 elementary school in Faribault, MN serving the families of Faribault and surrounding towns. We are committed to community, with culturally-responsive teaching, in-the-moment communication about student progress, and meaningful collaboration. Surad Academy will be a K-12 school, adding one grade level each year after opening.
